Association Sportive Mocoba is a football club and academy, founded in 2002 as “Arc en Ciel FC Etoile de Sagesse” by Barnabé Monhou in Cotonou, the capital of Benin. In 2020 the club was renamed AS Mocoba.
AS Mocoba plays in the Atlantic Province group with the Departmental Division. This is an amateur division, a stepping stone for players coming out of local academies and training centers.
In 2010, the U15 team won the Copa Coca Cola tournament, a tournament organized for training centers during vacation time. The U15 were champions of the evaluation tournament, which was organized by the Ministry of Sports.
In 2015 the U17 team won the tournament for youths under the age of 17, this being organized by the NGO ONAP.
In 2019 the U20s were 5th for the departmental championship in Benin’s Atlantic province.
Since its creation, AS Mocoba’s youth academy has seen more than 500 young people go through its training teams, aged from 10 to 19 years old.
This season (2019-2020), the academy is training 30 players under 15, 25 players under 17 and 25 players in the under 20 team.
In 2015, one of the academy’s students, Gildas Donvide, became a professional player for the Rio Branco football club in Brazil.
