Men's Team and Youth Academy

Dadjè Football Club d’Aplahoué is a football club and academy based in Aplahoué, capital of the department of Couffo. Dadjé FC plays in Benin’s Vitalor Ligue 2 (Second Division). It comprises a Senior Team of 25 players, a Junior Team of 22 players aged 16-18, and a Youth Academy for boys aged 11-15.

Dadjè FC was established in 2007/8 by Aplahpoué’s former mayor Casmir Sossou, who was determined to see the club promoted all the way up to Ligue 1 (First Division). The club is nicknamed “le Club du Peuple” (the People’s Club), referring to the local Adja people, for whom ‘dadjé’ means a young man or boy.

In 2018 M. Sossou sold Dadjé FC to a new owner and worthy successor: Mr. Oswald Homeky, Benin’s current Minister for Youth Sport and Recreation. Mr. Homeky counts on achieving that long held goal by bringing the senior team and its players to the high level nationally and internationally.

Dadjé FC’s great moment came in the 2010-2011 season, when the club played for the Benin Cup, where Dadjé beat out great clubs such as Énergie FC, Requin de l’Atlantique FC and Jeunesse Sportive de Pobè FC, losing 0-1 in the finals after a vigorous match against ASPAC. Since then the club has been runners-up two times in the Vitalor Ligue 2 ‘champion of champions’ tourneys and many time winners of the Couffo tournaments.

Dadjé’s most famous son is striker and Benin international Mohamed Aoudou Golanne, a local boy who played for the club for two seasons from 2008-2010. Mohamed gained his first national cap while playing for Dadjé. His proven skills have taken him to Istra (Croatia), Evain (France), Tonnere (Benin), COD Meknes (Morocco), JS Saoura and CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Al Shorta Baghdad (Iraq), Al Nahda al Khobar (Saudi Arabia), and since the 2018 season with Mosta FC in Malta. Altogether Mohamed Aoudou has played for Benin 15 times from 2008, scoring 2 goals.
