Stade Renard FC de Melong was established shortly after independence in 1960. Until the 2011-2012 season it was simply known as Stade de Melong. That season the club moved to the Moungo Departmental League, before joining the 2nd division of the Littoral regional in 2012-2013.
The club climbed quickly, reaching MTN Elite Two (Division) 2 in 2015. Soon after, Stade Renard showed what it was capable of, being crowned MTN Elite Two Champions that same year.
Promoted to MTN Elite One (Division 1), the club placed fifth in the 2016-2017 season. In the 2018-2019 season, Stade Renard qualified not only for the Top Play-offs of MTN Elite One, but also for the final of the Cameroon Cup, which it won by defeating AS FAP de Yaoundé 3 goals against 2.
At the beginning of 2020 Stade Renard de Melong, already winner of the Cameroon Cup, won its first SuperCup trophy, knocking out the reigning Cameroonian Champions, UMS de Loum. This was the first time in several years that the SuperCup has been played, so it is a notable victory.
Most recently, Stade Renard were runners up in the 2019-2020 Cameroon Cup in a close fought match losing only 0-1 to Union Sportive de Douala.
